How to get services in Oklahoma
Most long-term supports are paid for by Medicaid, often through a waiver program. Start with Medicaid, then get on the program that fits. Many programs have a waiting list, so apply early.
Start here SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) · Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA); aged, blind and disabled cases handled by Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS)
Apply online (opens in a new tab) · Call (800) 987-7767 · Your county Oklahoma Human Services office.
Oklahoma uses SSI rules but makes its own Medicaid decision, so people who get SSI qualify but may need to file a separate SoonerCare application.
People who are aged, blind or have a disability apply through Oklahoma Human Services under the aged, blind and disabled rules. Waivers such as ADvantage and the DDS waivers serve people who need an institutional level of care.
For children: TEFRA: gives SoonerCare to children with disabilities who need an institutional level of care at home, based on the child's income, not the parents'. Call 405-522-7752 for a packet.
